Coffee · Conservation · Community

Every sip helps hold the forest together.

Through the farm, the community implements programmes that mitigate human–animal conflict to protect wildlife and the forest. Initiatives such as beekeeping create alternative income, reducing dependence on forest resources.

Acting as mediators in conflicts and collaborating with authorities, the farm helps ensure harmonious coexistence between people, wildlife and nature — safeguarding the ecological integrity of Kibaale Forest National Park for generations to come.

Wild coffee thriving in ecologically sensitive areas contributes to habitat conservation: these varieties are naturally resilient to pests and disease and grow without excessive chemical inputs.

Tukorere Hamu Kibaale Forest Robusta Farmers Group

TOORO Coffee is the lead farmer of the Tukorere Hamu Kibaale Forest Robusta Farmers Group — comprised of women and marginalized members of society — uniting thousands of smallholder farmers around the Kibaale Forest belt.

With a deep-rooted connection between coffee farming and biodiversity conservation, the group prioritises responsible farming and quality control, fostering empowerment and solidarity within the community.

Sharing resources and addressing challenges collectively, the group maintains uniformity and traceability, combining knowledge of the land with age-old coffee farming techniques.
